Products Used: Nuraply 3PM Warm Roof System, Enertherm PIR Insulation Board, Dimond Advanced Roofing System (DARS)

Situation

Sheppard & Rout Architects designed this project to support the client’s continued growth, providing additional administrative space and a new head office with dedicated client meeting areas. The existing premises had become inadequate, driving the need for a purpose-built facility tailored to the company’s operational requirements.

Located on an exposed site just north of Hamilton, the building required a roofing solution that could deliver both durability and architectural performance. The design centred on achieving a clean, modern aesthetic through a seamless, low-pitched roof profile, while also delivering high thermal efficiency to help minimise ongoing energy costs.

Challenge

The project required careful coordination to meet a range of performance and design objectives. Central to the brief was achieving a seamless roof aesthetic, with no visible steps or interruptions, in keeping with the clean, modern architectural intent.

The roofing system also needed to deliver thermal performance exceeding building code requirements, improve energy efficiency and help to minimise long-term operating costs. This needed to be balanced with the demands of an exposed site, requiring a robust and durable solution.

Additional complexity arose from the need to provide reliable waterproofing to internal gutters, while maintaining continuity of insulation across varying roof pitches and systems. These factors called for a fully integrated roofing approach that could deliver both in performance and design outcomes.

Solution

A combined roofing approach incorporating Nuralite and Dimond systems was implemented to meet the project requirements. The Dimond Advanced Roofing System (DARS) was selected for its ability to be roll-formed onsite, enabling long, continuous tray lengths and achieving the desired seamless roof aesthetic.

Enertherm PIR insulation board was installed across the entire roof area, providing consistent thermal performance and continuity throughout the system. In areas with a roof fall of less than 3 degrees, Nuralite’s Nuraply 3PM two-layer torch-on membrane system was specified to deliver an effective warm roof solution and robust waterproofing, particularly within internal gutter zones.

The compatibility between Nuralite waterproofing membranes and the Dimond warm roof system ensured a cohesive, high-performing result. Completed in June 2025, the project delivers a modern, thermally efficient office building designed for long-term performance.
